Successful first Annual Socratic Dialogue Event of the GEH:  "Promoting Widening and Inclusiveness of the European Research Area (ERA)."

 

On the Second of March 2023, the Green ERA-Hub held its first Annual Socratic Dialogue Event in Budapest. It brought together around fifty participants from the region, Green ERA-Hub network representatives, and guest speakers, to commonly discuss widening options for Eastern European and Balkan countries in the European joint programming initiatives and networks. Focal point were the regional Food Systems and options for widening countries to join the upcoming Partnerships under Horizon Europe. Two key-note speeches set the scene. An introduction to the region was offered by professor Máté Botos; Chairman off the Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest, followed by an overview of the region from the FAO perspective by mister Raymund Jele; FAO’s Regional Programme Leader from the Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia. In a dedicated panel discussion, views, questions and state of play of the Partnerships and involvement of widening countries was further discussed.

The event was organized by the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture, with support from Aarhus University and Wageningen University & Research.

Widening Interview Session with Barna Kovacs Secretary-General at BIOEAST Initiative

BIOEAST is the Central Eastern European Initiative for Knowledge-based Agriculture, Aquaculture and Forestry in the Bioeconomy, which provides a common and shared strategic research and innovation framework for working towards sustainable bioeconomies of the Central and Eastern European countries.
