Title: Understanding and Anticipating Mechanisms of Honey Bee Colony Mortality with Connected Beehives

Dr. Antonis Koukourikos - Chief Scientific Officer at SCIOP.C

Title: Optimisation of digital catch monitoring and reporting in European Fisheries: The Case of the OptiFish Project

In this video, out two panellists explore two innovative projects using cutting-edge technology to enhance sustainability. BeeConnected focuses on monitoring honey bee colonies across varying climates and landscapes using low-cost sensors, aiming to understand the causes of winter colony mortality and develop early-warning indicators to help beekeepers reduce losses. By bringing together beekeepers, researchers, and engineers, the project fosters a collaborative approach to creating sustainable solutions for beekeeping. OptiFish aims to improve onboard monitoring of fish health and catch volumes, helping fishers adopt more sustainable practices, meet regulatory requirements, and improve operational efficiency. Together, these projects demonstrate the transformative power of digital technology in both beekeeping and fishing.
